Obituary for Robert "Bob" Larabie

Robert "Bob" Larabie
Larabie, Robert "Bob"
1963-2020
On Monday October 26, 2020 Bob, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 57 years. He will be deeply missed by the love of his life Lisa Larabie (née Schiratti). Bob was her knight in shinning armor who drove a shinny silver Camaro and wore a jean jacket. They were married for 32wonderful years. Proud father of Kaytlan (Daniel) Lascelle and Cory Larabie and cherished grandfather of Audrey and Emersyn Lascelle. Dear brother of Cindy Larabie of Montreal and Lynne Larabie-Lebrun (Shane) of Timmins. Also left to mourn are his in-laws Rudy and Annette Schiratti, his brothers-in-law Paul Schiratti and Arnel (Sonia) Schiratti, his niece and nephews and his partner in crime Mario Laroche (Mary). He was predeceased by his parents Roger (2019) and Denise (2008) Larabie. Bob was a respected motor coach operator with the Ontario Northland since 1994. He had a vast knowledge of the industry, and a keen ability to mentor newer drivers to operate a bus safely in all weather conditions. He served as local chairman which earned a reputation as a tough but reasonable union representative. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and a jack of all trades. He loved fishing, hunting, boating and barbecuing. Bob was always there to lend a helping hand. He was the center of everyone’s attention. His humour, his welcoming nature and his zest for life brought every one together. Every moment was brought on by a ‘Cheers’. He was someone who had a firm understanding of what was important- the simplicity of living life with those you love. His children were his life, and he enjoyed going to hockey, dancing, soccer, and school events. He was proud of their accomplishments and knew that they would be ok. His grandchildren filled his days with hope and joy, and he so wanted to stick around a little longer to teach them both how to fish, hunt and drive the boat. Bob cherished his time at the camp in Gogama with his family. It was his happy place. It was as he said: ‘The best place to raise his kids’. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Bob” to many, a title given to him long ago by Jaedon and Halley (Hungry Eyes)“and their parents Eric and Melissa (she) Demers. He made many friends at camp. The way he died is just like the way he lived: he wrote his own rules, he fought authority and he paved his own way. And if you said he couldn’t do it, he would make sure he could. He had a life long love affair with Vachon cakes, Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, his homemade salsa, his BBQ spare ribs and chocolate Amaretto cheesecake. Bob shared a special one of a kind friendship with Mario Laroche, and the two would often get themselves into trouble. However they were always able to talk their way out of it. Bob and Lisa enjoyed many adventures with Mario and Mary. Together they shared all the important life moments. They also travelled to the islands, camped, played euchre, and so much more. Bob also shared a great bond with Courtney and Dominic. Grand Marnier, Candy Crush, and the OLG are devastated by the loss of Bob. A special thank you to all the health care providers for their care and compassion, you are all angels. In light of the current pandemic, in efforts to protect the public and the family, they have decided to have a private family service. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation - Oncology Department would be greatly appreciated or to purchase yourself a ticket for the TDH 50/50 draw in Bob's honour. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
