Condolence: Sadly, I only learned of Dr. Shaw's passing when I watched a Barilko special on TSN. I wrote the Barilko book, and Dr. Shaw was so important go the book. He was a lovely man with great passion for life, and I send my most sincere condolences to family and friends.

Condolence: Dear Gwen and family;
We were next door neighbours for many years on Patricia Blvd. and we got to know John very well. Firstly, I must say there was no finer dentist anywhere. Doc looked after our many visits to his dental chair and performed what I call "miracles" when it came to our teeth. Next, as a neighbour he was always there to help or to have a chat and a cold one with. His dedication to family and community will be missed. RIP Doc John.

Condolence: Dear Gwen and children - yor husband/father had a major postive impact on thousands of lives, one of them being mine. As a young boy living on Brousseau Avenue, I worked at your house, babysat the children, and learned from this man of compassion and high integrity, the value of dedication and commitment. Everytime our paths crossed, John had something nice to say. He took time to stop by my chiropractic office when I had my grand opening, came to my retirement when I left practice ill. He contributed so much value to others. I feel honoured to have kown John. May you be comforted knowing that this man lived a life of great significance.
Sincerely,
Gilles

Condolence: I'm sorry to hear of Doc Shaw's passing and my condolences to the Shaw's. It's been many years but I remember him as a really nice man. I don't know what happened to his boys though;)
The woodpecker was the coolest truck in town. I even got to drive it once. I heard John was still playing hockey. That's cool. Take care Shaw family. Think of the good times and try and have a nice Christmas.

Condolence: Dear Gwen and family,

I am very sorry for your loss of John. He was such a positive, energetic and kind person. He was very supportive of my family who had no family in Timmins, always available to drive one of the kids or drop off a meal Gwen had cooked.
I remember a rousing game of Trivial Pursuit and hearing all about Bill Barilko in front of the fire one Christmas. He had such enthusiasm and energy for his projects, his community and most importantly, his family.
John will be greatly missed.
Love, Diana

Condolence: Dear Gwen and Family,
I want to send you my deepest condolences. Doc Shaw had been in my life. Being our dentist to organizing the Jasper to Banff relay, all of my memories are fond ones. The day I was given the Timmins Stragglers shirt was a proud moment that I will always remember. His memory will live on in our lives. We will cherish them forever.
