McIntosh, Charles (1937-2014)
The family announces with great sorrow his death on December 28, 2014 at the age of 77. Charles is survived by his beloved wife and partner Simone and his children Daniel (Maria) of Azilda, Deborah of Timmins, Susan Kay (Stephen) of Sharon, Brenda McIntosh-Doell (Brian) of Airdrie, Alberta, and Keith (Kelly) of Aurora. Also survived by his step-children Bill Merritt of Timmins, Brenda Merritt of Ottawa and Diane Athanasiou (Andreas) of Carlisle. He is also survived by his sisters Mary in Aurora and Kathy in Kilmarnock, Scotland and his brother Bill also in Kilmarnock. He will be missed by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pre-deceased by his sons Denis and Kenneth and his grandson Garrett and brothers and sisters from Scotland.
Charles immigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1957 and was proud to call Timmins his home and thought Canada was the best country in the world. He was a miner and welder at various mines throughout the area and upon retiring from the mining industry began a new career in the insurance field. He was an avid soccer player and coach; played golf later in life and played tennis daily with Simone and loved sports in general. He enjoyed discussing politics; and his favourite expressions were “What’s for you will not go passed you!” and “Up yer kilt!” We miss you and love you Dad!
Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. on New Year’s day Thursday, January 1st, 2015 from the Chapel of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home (Fr. John Lemire officiating). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation - Critical Care Unit. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday January 1st, 2015 at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S.
