Obituary for Sydney "George" Westcott

Sydney "George" Westcott
Westcott, Sydney "George"
Sept 10, 1940-April 26, 2023

George was born September 10, 1940 in Timmins to Marjorie (Laporte) and William Westcott (both predeceased)

George went to George Brown College to obtain his mechanic’s license and went on to work for Tisdale Trucks and the Daigneault family. The family settled in Porcupine in 1967 and laid down roots. He went on to purchase his 1st truck in the late 1960’s and George Westcott Trucking was created. He worked until his retirement in 2012.

Friday night was a hot spot at the Westcott home in Porcupine where Dad would bring out the drinks and Mom had a large pot of something cooking. Everyone was always welcome and it was a revolving door! If he wasn’t tinkering with a truck or taking something apart, Dad would be reading encyclopedias or some history book or watching the history Chanel. He was a total history buff and was very proud of his ancestry.

Left to mourn are his children Debbie Kolli, Elizabeth Westcott, George Jr Westcott. His grandchildren Senja Leavoy (Ken), Aaron Kolli ( Hilary), Christopher Westcott ( Natalie) and Jennah Westcott. His great grandchildren Logan and Seija Leavoy, Vayda Chartrand and Axel Kolli and Elliot Westcott. Also survived by his 2 sister in laws, Kathy Chenier and Sheryle Westcott as well as a large extended family. Predeceased by his wife Claudette (Chenier) his children Brenda, Joanne, Brian, Gary, Shelley, his parents Marjorie & William, His siblings, Wayne, Hazel and John, His brother in law Rick Chenier and Denis Young. Dad has gone to join Our Mom who was the love of his life and passed away during Covid so we will hold a celebration of life for the both of them.

Please Join us for a celebration of life to honor the beloved memory of
