The family announces with deep sorrow the death of Robert “Bob" Sonier, born in New Brunswick, who passed away peacefully at his home in Timmins on January 22nd, 2020. “Bob" was a great provider and was always there when needed. He was also a very hard worker for several decades at the Hollinger and McIntyre mines. He enjoyed camping at the Cache Campground with his true soulmate, Therese Courville who also passed on January 22nd back in 2012. Now he is really back with his true love.

Bob is survived by his daughters: Debbie Pommer from Winnipeg Beach, Barbara Vanderveer from Petersfield, Cindy (Jim) Dubowits from Libau, Darlene (Sonny) Makara from Selkirk, Joanne Courville (Yvon Vieno) of Fauquier, Carole Yelle (Troy Greening) of Timmins, and Ginette Bourgon (Andy Collins) of Timmins as well as his sons Gerry Sonier from Regina and Bill Sonier from Sooke, his brothers Donald Sonier from Sarnia and Gerry Taillefer from Timmins and sisters Gisele Hache and Diane Sonier. Also survived by 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by many family members including his grandson Doug Sonier, son Donald Courville, daughters Micheline Courville and Claudette Courville. The family would like to thank nurses Amy Lafleur from Bayshore and Marnie Chisholm from CCAC for their constant care and support during this difficult transition. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020 from the Chapel of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home (Deacon Michel Neron officiating). A reception will follow in the Miron-Wilson Reception Lounge. Remembrance donations to Northern Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends from 2 -4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday January 26, 2020 at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
