Julie Pope-Desilets

To Cindy's family, I offer my heartfelt condolences. My Mother-in-law Cindy, daughter of Tommy & Betty Hay, was a wonderful and generous woman, mother, and grandmother, and a United Church Minister for congregations in Sturgeon Falls, South Porcupine, and Timmins, Ontario for many years. She lead the parishioners with a gentle spirit and a strong faith, and her dedication was evident, along with her great people skills. Cindy had a passion for sharing life lessons with people of all ages, especially children, her insight and her faith in God were a beacon light to others. Through stories of dragonflies explaining the concept of what happens when humans pass away to sharing stories of travel, events in Canada and abroad, and anecdotes about her cherished family members, she delighted parishioners who were present at the United Church on Sundays for faith services. She drew people closer together, she served and cared for people with ease, she had a profound understanding, respect, and support for Indigenous People, and a love of music, reading, knitting, and an occasional dinner out with family. Cindy loved her children J.P., Cathy, and Richard, and she was especially fond of her grandchildren Shyanne, Jessie, Nicole, Summer, and Logan. She was incredibly good at listening, offering suggestions of ways to manage situations, and giving a practical outlook on faith, family, friends, and life. Cindy, you are missed every day, and we were so fortunate to have you in our lives. We are grateful to all of the people in your life who showed you kindness and compassion, and especially to the Physicians and Nurses at the Ottawa Heart Institute who gave us more time with you! We love you Cindy! Thank you for being my extraordinary Mother-in-law and for leading the way in faith, love, and kindness to all! You are with us, in our hearts, in our memories, always. Your husband Remi, and all your family are waiting for you with open arms. Love, Julie xoxo
