Obituary for Paula Michele Ramsey (Landriault)

Paula Michele Ramsey (Landriault)
RAMSEY, Paula Michele (née Landriault)
1955-2023
Peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at home, on Saturday January 7, 2023 at the age of 67. Loving wife of John and cherished mother of Kyla Ramsey (Jay McConnery). Adored Nonna of Ildiko and Lenore.
Faced with an early diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 19, Paula bravely left her hometown of Timmins, Ontario. In Ottawa she found both her career and her devoted husband and soul-mate, John. Their spirits were destined to meet and unite in a bond that lasted for almost 46 years. Together, as always, they set out to enjoy a life of happiness defined in their own terms, and not by what could be considered by others as limitations. Paula was truly blessed with the gift of courage to face each day with grace and optimism, despite the physical challenges that she faced. Paula inspired John in his work and hobbies, and ensured home was a haven where everyone was well fed, safe and cared for, including as much ‘direct sunlight’ as possible! Paula was a loyal friend to many, known for her veracity and warm hospitality.
Eventually, John and Paula shared their mutual love for music, nature and humour with their greatest accomplishment - their phenomenal daughter Kyla, who has carried forward Paula’s teachings of sun worship and rocking-out whenever possible with her twin daughters, Ildiko and Lenore. It was surely a long goodbye for Paula’s family and friends and one ultimately for which they could never fully prepare. Her family feels blessed to have had time to be with her and to say goodbye and tell her how much she was loved. Paula will be greatly missed by all who knew her, with a beautiful smile and a warmth that won’t be forgotten.
The family wishes to thank the St. Elizabeth’s nursing staff as well as the many personal support workers that cared for Paula at home over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 pm, January 27 at the Arlington Woods Free Methodist Church, 225 McClellan Rd., Nepean. A private family graveside service will be held at Capital Memorial Gardens, Nepean.
