Merenda, Giovanni (1943 - 2018)
The family announces with great sorrow his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the age of 74 years. Loving husband of Carole Merenda (nee Dupras). Loving father of Mario of Timmins and Lisa of Ottawa. Survived by his sisters Ida (late Aldo) Porco of South Porcupine, Gina (Roberto) Pugliese of South Porcupine, Sistina (Luigi) Tiano of Toronto, Nilde (Mike) Fiorino of Timmins. He is also survived by his sisters Rita Parisi and Ada Cozza both of Italy, and by his sister-in-law Anita Merenda. He will be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Antonio and Maria- Teresa, his sisters Rosina (Pietro) Fabiano, Maria (Angelo) Cozza, Virginia (Salvatore) Cucullo, his brother Francesco Merenda, and his nephews Mario and Antonio Cozza. Giovanni was born in Paterno Calabro of Cosenza Italy. He made his way to Canada in 1962, where he lived in South Porcupine and later in Timmins where he settled. He married Carole Dupras in 1978. He worked many years at Korman's Dairy, Eplett's Dairy and Beatrice Foods until his retirement. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from the Sacred Heart Church (Fr. John Lemire officiating). Remembrance donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
