Garry was born in South Porcupine and his heart never left. He studied at St. Patrick’s University in Ottawa before attending Osgoode Hall Law School and articled in Toronto. Garry was a lawyer, a businessman, a Small Claims Court Deputy Judge, a husband, a son, a brother, a grandfather, a godfather to nine godchildren, a partner, an employer and a friend to many. He and Kay loved to laugh. travel, dine and curl with their dear friends from N.M.N.F.T.U . He looked forward to getting together with the old “South End Gang” He was dedicated to his community through his membership in the Kinsmen and Knights of Columbus, and was a proud volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He served on the O’Gorman High School Board of Trustees for many years. He was a past president of the Cochrane District Law Association and had been a long-time member of the Canadian Bar Association. With the Porcupine in his blood, Garry had a keen interest in skating and curling. Garry is predeceased by his parents Lydia ( Sloan) and Norman, his sisters Leona and Norma, his brother Joe, his dear brother-in-law Emmet Cunningham and sister-in-law Patricia Sullivan, and by in-laws Denise ( Coyne) and Isaiah Culligan. He will be remembered for his wit and appreciation of good humour in others, his generosity to his community, and his dedication to his great friends and beloved northern Ontario. Garry’s family wishes to thank the staff of the Special Care Unit at the Golden Manor who gave him such exceptionally good care over the last 20 months.
