Obituary for Francis "Frank" Michaud

Francis "Frank" Michaud
Michaud, Francis "Frank"
1966-2021
It is with profound sorrow and heartache that the family announces the passing of Francis “Frank” Michaud at the Timmins and District Hospital, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the age of 54.

He was the beloved husband of 31 years to Karen, and devoted father of Aaron and Jacob. He will be missed by his trusted feline companion “AJ”. Cherished brother to Daniel (Nancy MacIsaac), Robert, Elizabeth and Stephen (Jenny Riecken).Dearest son-in-law of Percy Delarge and brother-in-law to Connie Woodburn (Doug Jones) and Wendy Delarge-Smith (Cosmas Smith). Predeceased by his parents Real “Ray” and Katherine “Kay” Michaud, and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Delarge. He will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A letter carrier for Canada Post for the past 14 years, Frank will be remembered for his diligent, organized and conscientious work ethic, his sarcastic and animated wit and humor. He consistently made sure his coworkers were systematically organized before they left the office for their daily jaunt. His amusing banter amongst “his people” at work and his distinct expressions will always be topic of affectionate conversation.

Frank had an unrelenting passion and enthusiasm for basketball. His tireless dedication and commitment to the Timmins High basketball program, as a player, coach, or volunteer, proved to be an inherited love of basketball for his boys. He made each player feel like a giant of the game. He spent countless hours in the gym, on the road with the team, and of course, drilling and giving the referees a hard time. Frank coached soccer for both his boys for years, always ensuring that fun was the true essence of the game, while maintaining his ever-competitive drive.

Frank had an enormous and dynamic presence, coupled with a positive and vibrant spirit. His faithful loyalty to his friends was unmatched. His brilliant and gifted advice always seemed to come at the perfect moment. He was a die-hard Dallas Stars fan and a walking textbook of World War II. He was always a wealth of knowledge and trivia. Frank loved puttering outside in his shed, kayaking and travelling. He was the first one up in the morning before a trip, packing the car like a game of Tetris and always the last one to leave, making sure nothing was left behind.

Frank always had an unwavering understanding of what was most important...his family. His love and devotion to his wife and boys was immeasurable. Frank and Karen met and instantly knew they had found each other’s “person”...their kindred spirit. Their goals and desires never faltered. He loved her with conviction. But Frank’s greatest accomplishment was his two boys. He served as a dynamic and inspiring role model to Aaron and Jacob. He taught them the simple lessons, the difficult ones, and the most important ones...he taught them about family. He never missed an opportunity to take them camping while Karen worked, play street basketball, or sit in the bleachers or on the sidelines for the multitude of their sport games or practices. He was always the first to encourage and celebrate their efforts, or console their heartache. Aaron and Jacob’s sense of humor, integrity, and zest for life only honor him. He was, and always will be, infinitely proud of their accomplishments, and of the men they have become.

A special thank you to Dr. Griffiths, Dr. Schwertfeger and the Oncology Department for their outstanding care. Words do not seem adequate enough to thank the staff of Hospice for their compassion and strength for Frank and his family.

In light of the current pandemic, in efforts to protect the public and the family, they have decided to have a private family service. Remembrance donations to Timmins and District Hospital Foundation - Hospice Centre or the Timmins High Boys Basketball (Cheque payable to THVS Boys Basketball) would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
