The family announces with great sorrow his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of Catherine. Proud father of Bob (Ruth) of Kincardine, Deb (Ben) Smid of Newcastle and Terrol Maciver of Oshawa. Cherished grandfather of Matthew and Erin McFarlane of Kincardine, Adam McFarlane of Waterloo, David Smid (Stephanie) of Port Hope, Jonathan (Alexis) of Bowmanville, Rebecca Maciver of Kingston and Scott Maciver of Oshawa. Great-grandfather of Poppy and Clementine McFarlane of Kincardine. Dear brother-in-law of Bill (Myrna) Burgess of Porter Lake and Tim (Nancy) Burgess of Winnipeg. Donald will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Mable McFarlane, his brothers Bill (late Rachel) and Andy (Gerarda), and his parents-in-law William and Minnie Burgess. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 31, 2017 from the Miron-Wilson Chapel (Pastor Kevin officiating). A reception will follow in the Miron-Wilson Reception Lounge. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Association or the Timmins and District Hospital foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends from 10 am – 10:45 am on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
