It is with great sadness that the family announces his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital - Hospice on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of Linda Benoit (nee Trochimchuk). Loving father of Lynne (Raymond) Groulx, Daniel Benoit, Marcel Benoit, Julie (Michael) Hawthorn and Michelle Benoit. Cherished grandfather of Kaitlyn and Emma Groulx, Danielle and Nathaniel Hawthorn, Alexis Benoit and Adam Belbaraka. He will be sadly missed by his godchildren Cory Trochimchuk and Dan Lapierre. He is survived by his siblings Clarence (Valzina), Late Lawrence (Aline), Donalda (late Lorenzo) Brideau, Clauda (Edgar) Brideau, Claude (Guylaine), Viateur (Ginette), Raymond (Jeanne), William (Marie) and Clermont (Angela). Also left to mourn are his brothers and sisters-in-law Shirley (Rick) Lapierre, Mary Anne Trochimchuk, Maurice (Nicole) Trochimchuk and Freddie (Joanne) Trochimchuk. Also left to mourn are many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Rita & Aimee Benoit, his aunt Marie-Jeanne Lacroix (Eudore), his in-laws Laddie & Agnes Trochimchuk, brother-in-law Donald Trochimchuk and his little buddy Kobey.

Donald worked with CN-Rail for 25 years. He was a good provider and his family was his pride and joy. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. The family wishes to thank Dr. Lynne Schwertfeger, Dr. Harvey, the nursing staff of the Hospice and Shawna from the emergency department for their compassion and excellent care provided to Donald during his stay at the hospital.

In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the family has decided to have a private family gathering and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donald was a man true to his character, had a kind spirit and was always willing to help others. To honour his memory, in lieu of donations, the family would appreciate doing a good deed or act of kindness. Papa dévoué de Lynne (Raymond) Groulx, Daniel Benoit, Marcel Benoit, Julie (Michael) Hawthorn et Michelle Benoit. Grand-papa adoré de Kaitlyn et Emma Groulx, Danielle et Nathaniel Hawthorn, Alexis Benoit et Adam Belbaraka. Il laisse dans le deuil ses filleuls Cory Trochimchuk et Dan Lapierre. Cher frère de Clarence (Valzina), feu Lawrence (Aline), Donalda (feu Lorenzo) Brideau, Clauda (Edgar) Brideau, Claude (Guylaine), Viateur (Ginette), Raymond (Jeanne), William (Marie) et Clermont (Angela). Il est aussi survécu par ses beaux-frères et belles-sœurs Shirley (Rick) Lapierre, Mary Anne Trochimchuk, Maurice (Nicole) Trochimchuk et Freddie (Joanne) Trochimchuk. Il laisse dans le deuil plusieurs nièces et neveux.

Prédécédé par ses parents Rita & Aimée Benoit, sa tante Marie-Jeanne Lacroix (Eudore), ses beaux-parents Laddie & Agnes Trochimchuk, son beau frère Donald Trochimchuk et son ti-buddy Kobey.

Donald a travaillé pour CN-Rail pendant 25 ans. Il était un excellent père de famille et jouissait de voir sa famille grandir. La pêche et la chasse étaient ses passe-temps favoris et il adorait être entouré de la nature. La famille tient à remercier Dr. Lynne Schwertfeger, Dr. Harvey, les infirmières de l'hospice ainsi que Shawna dans le département d'urgence pour les excellents soins et leur compassion durant le temps que papa y était.

En raison de la pandémie Covid-19, la famille a décidé de tenir une visite privée et un service aura lieu à une date ultérieur. Donald était un homme fidèle à son caractère, avait un esprit sage et était toujours prêt à aider les autres. En son hommage, au lieu de faire un don, ceux et celles qui le désirent, peuvent faire un geste de gentillesse envers quelqu'un.
