Obituary for Denis Raoul Daoust

Denis Raoul Daoust
The family announces with great sorrow his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on March 20, 2022 at the age of 75. Left to mourn is his best friend and love of his life, Lise Daoust (nee Lachapelle); his beloved children Stacie (Steve Barrette), Marc (Sandra) and Daniel (Roxanne); his dear grandchildren Braxton (Gabrielle), Nicolas (Kelsey), Adrien (Holly), Logan, Noah, Caroline, Naomi, Ajay and Journey; his siblings Ronald (Betty), Bibianne (Valere Allaire), Rejean, Pierrette (Denis Lavoie), Pierre (Dayle) and Suzanne Lutczyn. Denis is the dear brother in-law of Bert Duchesne (Loanne), Pauline (Tom McCormack), Philippe Lachapelle (Lise), Georges Lachapelle and Roger Ranger. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and good friends. He is predeceased by his parents Omer and Marie Daoust and his sister Carmen Studor and his in-laws Sinaï and Berthe Lachapelle; Aline, Maurice and Paul Lachapelle, Jeannine Allarie and Claire Ranger

Denis had a long career working at Kidd Creek where his coworkers nicknamed him “Okie Dokie”. Denis was also a proud member of the Chevaliers de Colomb Conseil #6808. His proudest moments were spending time with his 9 grandchildren; they were his pride and joy. He enjoyed his daily rides around Gillies Lake, making his famous mushroom soup and preparing family feasts for his 3 children and their families. His evenings were spent watching the news, game shows or old westerns on TV followed by a few games of Rummikub with Lise where she would sometimes let him win. Denis was loved from as far as Italy by their “adopted” Italian grand-daughter Adele Piano De Compos.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bayshore, Misiway and T&DH for their compassion and care. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 at 11am from St-Dominique Church (Father Alexis officiating). Donations to Diabetes Canada would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1st, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
