Obituary for Daniel "Dan" Pilon

Daniel "Dan" Pilon
PILON, Daniel
1943 - 2020
The family announces with great sorrow his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 77 years. Beloved husband of Yolande Pilon (nee Bolduc), who he shared the last 52 years of his life with. Loving father of Ron (Suzanne) Pilon and Lisa Pilon (Curtis Westcott) both of Timmins. Cherished grandfather of Ashley (Dylan), Roch, Jesse, Trace, Samuel and Chelsea. Dear brother of late Gerard Pilon, late Robert Pilon, René Pilon, Lucille Bastien (late Ken), late Jean-Paul Pilon (late Gloria), late Alice Rice (Lloyd), Normand Pilon, Denise Sarazin (Fern) and Colette Pilon. Also left to mourn are his many nieces, nephews, his brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous friends. He was also predeceased by his parents Roland and Irène Pilon. Throughout his career as a cement finisher, Dan has made many friends on and off the job. He finished his career with Ontario Hydro at the age of 60. Dan was a great man with a big heart only rivalled by his humour, quick wit and smile. He was a wonderful person who loved to entertain people at his home or by the campfire. Dan loved to make people laugh. He had a contagious laugh that could always brighten up those around. Dan was passionate about both fishing and hunting, the verdict is still out on the accuracy of the sizes of fish, and who`s bullet actually took down the moose. We will continue to tend to his flower and vegetable gardens, however, we are sure the harvests will never be the same. Dan will always be remembered as an amazing husband, caring father, proud grandfather, loving brother, supporting uncle and incredible friend. We are sad that you are gone, but grateful that you are at peace. We suspect you are still winning many games of crib and that you are still surrounded by people in laughter. You will be greatly missed, but you will live on in our hearts and our memories forever. The family would like to thank Dr. Schwertfeger along with nurse Chrissy from the Hospice at the Timmins and District Hospital and nurses Marnie Chisholm and Lynn Cyr from Bayshore and Serge and the team at Miron-Wilson Funeral Home, for their care and compassion during this difficult time. In light of the current coronavirus pandemic, in efforts to protect the public and the family, they have made a decision to have a memorial service at a later date. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation - Hospice Center would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
