Obituary for Tosca Pollon (Fenato)

Tosca Pollon (Fenato)
Many will say they have the best mother in the world but we know that we had the best. Our mother, Tosca Santa Angela Pollon (nee Fenato) passed away unexpectedly on the morning of June 23, 2022 at the Timmins and District Hospital. Over the last years, Mom had suffered with chronic leg pain and looked forward to her hip replacement surgery so that, as she said “I’ll be able to drive my car again and go see my great-grandchildren". Mom was the beloved and devoted wife of 57 years to our father Alfeo (2016). She loved with all her being her children Theresa Marks (Phil), Marla Rafuse (Ken), Michael (Mary-Lou) and Kevin. Nonni will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Ryan (Brianna) Marks, Kara DeLuca (Josh), Victoria Minszczak (Peter), Alana Butterworth (Danny), Christopher Rafuse, Michaela and Matthew Pollon. Also left to grieve her loss is her sister Bruna, who Mom loved not only as a sister but as her best friend. Mom is also survived by her sisters/brothers-in-law Elsa and Carlo Didone, Diana and Herb Hopkins, Patrick Liley and Mary Fenato along with their families. Mom was predeceased by her parents Egidio and Maria Fenato, her parents-in-law Giuseppe and Rosa Pollon, her brother Lino Fenato and baby grandson Jared. Mom's great joy in the last 10 months was being on this earth to see and hold her 3 great-grandchildren Alfeo, lan and Piper. They were her reason for getting up in the morning and seeing through another day.

Our mother was a very spiritual woman and had an unwavering devotion to St. Theresa. She found peaceful solace in gazing over her yard in the country, hearing the babble of the creek, watching a multitude of dragonflies and fireflies, birds of every colour and size, and chipmunks she befriended. Mom's hands were never idle. Her crafts were "my sanity" as she put it, especially when her mobility was so compromised. Mom was a firm believer that one's life continues on when we pass from this world and those who have left us continue to watch over us. We know we will be well protected!

For those wishing, remembrance donations to Operation Smile Canada or Covenant House Toronto would be greatly appreciated. A private funeral service will be held (Father John Lemire officiating). The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm on Monday, June 27th from the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
