Surrounded by her family, the family announces with profound sadness the passing of Simone Mathieu at the Timmins and District Hospital on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the age of 79 years old. Predeceased by her beloved husband Lionel Mathieu (2001). Loving mother of Denise (Paul Véronneau) and Christine (Sylvia Primeau-Beasley). Cherished mémère of Raymond (Andrea), Brianne (Ted), Brigitte (Joshua), Chantal (Sean) and Stephanie. Adored Nana of Marcus, Wilson and Isabelle. Beloved sister of Raymond, Ernest, Laurette Groulx, Léa Melanson, Hélène (Philippe Joron), Armand (Claudette), Rolande (Paul Vien), Aime (Colette) and sister-in-law Réange. Predeceased by her parents Lionel and Delice Savard, her siblings Laurent, Yvette Brisson, Rhéal, Irène Mathieu, Pauline Joron and many in-laws.

Mom had a passion for life. Her love for her family was beyond unconditional. She was at her happiest when welcoming friends and family into her home or at camp for a wonderful homemade meal and one of her amazing desserts. She spent many of her best years camping with some of her siblings, family and friends at Hazen Lake and at the Gogama Waterfront Lodge, all while playing numerous games of Mitaine. She will be dearly missed by her adored pets Champ and Gizmo. Special thanks to Lourissa McLeod, Bayshore nurses Amy and Kaitlyn, Dr. Tammy Hopkins and the nursing staff at the TDH palliative care unit.


Remembrance donations to the Timmins Food Bank or the Timmins District Humane Society would be gratefully appreciated. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 1:00pm at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix church (Fr. Richard Ngoy officiating). The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
