Obituary for Sarah Vaillancourt

Sarah Vaillancourt
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sarah Vaillancourt, 36 years old, from Timmins, Ontario, announces her unexpected death on May 6, 2023.

Sarah was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends, fishing, hunting, walking in the woods and staying up late reminiscing or talking about life and all its beauty and challenges. Sarah cared deeply for others, especially those who suffered. This led Sarah to dedicate herself to a career in Nursing.

Those who care the most are often those who suffer the most. Sarah was no exception. She struggled for many years against the demons of addiction. This struggle ultimately took her life. Her time spent in treatment and recovery were not in vain: her compassion and sympathy for those dealing with the chronic disease of addiction grew. Sarah found her place in recovery. The friends and family she made within the recovery community will miss her terribly.

Sarah is survived by her parents, Gilles and Jackie (nee Dubien) Vaillancourt, her siblings, Christine Phippen (Bruce), Daniel Vaillancourt (Samantha Giles), David Vaillancourt (Leona Johnson). Sarah was a loving and doting aunt to Britney (Erin), Des, Haylee, Liam, Lila and Maeve. She will be remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and especially her closest friend, Helena Fortin.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Jubilee Centre or Timmins and Area Women in Crisis.

The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 1-3pm for a memorial reception at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
