The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Roman Gadzala can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Thank you for everything

As a close friend of his daughter Krysteena, I had the immense pleasure of meeting him. Celine and Roman welcomed me with open arms for a 7-day stay in their house in Timmins.
In the very short time span I got to be alongside him, he taught me quite a few invaluable lessons. Among them, here are two I would like to share:
- He took me ice-fishing for the first time, which turned out to be a complete failure. Not because of him - he was the perfect teacher - but because I passed out on the ice after drilling the most pathetic hole in the ice. It was admittedly a very cold day that day, but it was cold for the both of us. He stood by me (even though Krysteena was laughing hysterically), never gave up on me, and after a few tries, we finally managed to drill a good enough hole for me to experience ice-fishing.  Thanks to him, I crossed something off my bucket list and I'll never ever ever ever forget the moment I caught my first fish.  I will truly always remember his patience and his kindness.
- The second moment I got to share with him, was when he showed me that boiling water trick. It was, again, a very cold and dry winter's day. And I remember very fondly that he really wanted to show me this trick before I had to hop on my plane back to France. So he took me outside with a pan filled of boiling water, and threw the pan up in the air. The water went from liquid to steam in milliseconds. I'd never seen such a thing. I was truly amazed. He then went on to say, in a polish / canadian accent: " l'eau bouillie".
I remember this moment very vividly and it's a trick that I show my friends at home (when the temperature are cold enough. We very seldom get negative temperatures around here in France).

I just wanted to share these two moments, because they mean a lot to me, and I believe they say a lot about who Roman was. I really did not know him at all and, even then, he was pure kindness and generosity.

I thank him for these moments and I truly hope he may now rest in Peace.
