It is with shattered hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. On Friday, March 13, 2020 at the age of 68 years he was reunited with the love of his life. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years Beverley Vandal (nee Langlais). Loving father of Mario Vandal (Véronique), Nathalie Clouthier (Jamie) and Christian Vandal (Jessica Van Duinkerken). Cherished grandfather of Joshua Lemieux-Vandal (Ashley Silk), Jacob Lemieux-Vandal (Ashley Remington), Kara Clouthier, Devon Clouthier, Kaleigh Vandal, Christian Vandal, Isabella Van Duinkerken and Lillian Plourde. Great-grandfather of Navy and Harbor Vandal. Predeceased by his parents Lionel and Thérèse Vandal. He is survived by his brothers and sisters; Bertrand Vandal(Colette), Diane Fortin (late Mirel), late Aline Castonguay (Réal), late Colette Rondeau (Guy), Dolorès Bélanger (late Simon), late Réjean Vandal (Lise), Pauline Roy (Mario), Carole Blanchette (Fernand), Lina Vandal (Graham Bromley) and Jean-Claude Vandal (Brenda). Predeceased by his parents-in-law Jean-Marie and Peggy Langlais, sister-in-law Christine Langlais (Robert Cryer) and brother-in-law Dean Langlais (Elizabeth). Survived by his brothers and sisters in-law Denise Bromley (Keith), Nelson Langlais (Réjeanne), Diane Langlais, Judy Langlais (René Bachelet), Guy Langlais, Richard Langlais, Marc Langlais, Jay Langlais (Lillian), Nancy Malott (Ken) and Steven Langlais (Pam). René will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His love of music and style had rendered him the nickname Disco René. He was a hard worker that always put his family first. Everyone that met him was treated with respect and kindness. His piercing blue eyes will always smile down on us. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be greatly appreciated. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S. Timmins.
