Obituary for Patrick "Pat" Bamford

Patrick "Pat" Bamford
BAMFORD, Patrick Bernard (February 17, 1941 – April 30, 2020.) It is with very heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Patrick (Pat) Bamford on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the age of 79. He is survived by his beloved Shelley Bamford and was the cherished father of Jonathan Kreiner (Athena) of Thunder Bay, Matthew Kreiner and former spouse, Nancy of Barrie and Evan Kreiner of New York. Proud and loving Papa of Jared, Alyssa, Samantha and Sarah Kreiner. Pat will forever be remembered by his sister, Hilda Bamford of Timmins and his brother, Albert Bamford (Joyce) of Frankford. Pat also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom he was very close. Pat was predeceased by his loving parents, Joseph and Winnifred Bamford, his brother, Peter Bamford and wife, Claire. Pat was born and raised in Cochrane, Ontario. He attended Scollard Hall in North Bay at a young age and went on to university, earning multiple degrees. Pat had a rich 35 year career as an educator, having held several teaching and guidance positions throughout Northern Ontario. Pat retired as Principal of Roland Michener Secondary School in 2005. After retiring from teaching, Pat was not quite ready to take it easy with his time off. Always interested and passionate about politics, Pat served three terms as Ward 4 City Councillor for the City of Timmins from 2006 to 2018. Pat was a dedicated and engaged Councillor who served on many committees to help make the City of Timmins a great place to live. Pat was a true pillar of his community and the City of Timmins is honouring him by lowering all city flags to half-mast until May 8. Pat was a truly remarkable person who profoundly touched the lives of many people, making a significant impact on all members of his immediate and extended family, friends, colleagues, students and acquaintances. Pat’s character was extraordinary. He was a role model for all who met him, having impeccable integrity, generosity, and kindness, all supported by a very deep Catholic faith. Pat was a very active member of St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral and greatly contributed to parish life. Family was extremely important to Pat and his greatest joy came from spending time with them, especially for sporting events, special occasions and celebrating holidays. Pat’s quick wit and infectious laugh will always be remembered and forever missed. He recently joked that his cats Snoopy, Muffy and Fitzy were great company but they hadn’t learned English yet! Due to current restrictions, a Catholic Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life for Pat will be held at a later date when we can give him the tribute he so very much deserves. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S. To make online donations or condolences, please visit www.mironwilson.com
