Obituary for Patrick Holopainen

Patrick Holopainen
With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Patrick (Tic) Holopainen, peacefully in his sleep at home.
He leaves behind his grandchildren Michael and Seth Manchester, his brother Andy Holopainen (Debbie Couture) and sister Carolyn Miller. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, several cousins and his aunt, Marguerite Labelle.
He is predeceased by his daughter Pamela Holopainen, his parents, Reino and Helen Holopainen, his brothers, Randy and Raymond Holopainen, and brother-in-law Steve Miller.
Pat lived the majority of his life in the Timmins area with only short periods away when he worked as a welder in Baffin Island and Hamilton.
As a teen, Pat was a talented boxer and won many trophies for his skill as well as the Golden Gloves and declined an invitation to try out for the Olympics.
His smile and infectious laugh, his habit of beginning most sentences with, “The thing is…” and the often comical lack of a filter between his brain and mouth will often be remembered and sadly missed.
In lieu of cards or flowers, the family requests donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice. Due to Covid-19 lockdown and the winter season, a graveside memorial will be held in the spring at Whitney cemetery where Pat’s ashes will be laid to rest.
The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 150 Balsam St. S. Timmins. To make credit card online donations or condolences, please visit www.mironwilson.com
