It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nelson Gauthier on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the age of 74 years at Timmins & District Hospital after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Nelson is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Diane (née Chopp) and loving father of Paul (Christine) and Gail. Cherished grandfather of Krysta, Tierra, Kara and Makayla. Nelson is also survived by his oldest brother Roger Gauthier (May) of Kapuskasing and his sister-in-law Debbie Stephens (Bill). He is predeceased by his parents Simon Gauthier & Lucille (née Frappier) as well as his brother Richard (Paulette), his in-laws Joe Chopp and Noëlla (née Joseph) and his brother-in-law Dave Chopp (Alice).

Special thanks to Nelson's lifelong friends Andy Beauchamp (Doreen) and George Beauchamp (Gayle) for their visits during his final days as it meant so much to him. The family would also like to thank all of the Specialists and caregivers at the Sudbury Cancer Care Clinic, as well as the many Physicians, nurses & PSWs at TDH & Hospice wing.

As per Nelson's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. The family will have a private celebration of life in Nelson's honor at a later date.
