Obituary for Marcello Greatti

Marcello Greatti
Greatti, Marcello (1927-2019)
On October 25th 2019 at the Timmins and District Hospital, the spirit that held him strong and steady for 92 years passed into eternity. He was the youngest of nine predeceased siblings, born to Fantino and Teresa Greatti, also predeceased, in Italy. Post-war hardship in the country forced him to forge a life elsewhere, and he settled in Timmins, Ontario in 1951.
Marcello worked at Ontario Hydro for 37 years, and he became a member of the Quarter Century Club after his retirement. He was also a long-time member of the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church, and one of the first members of the Porcupine Dante Club. He is survived by his wife Maria Greatti (nee Colavincenzo), his son Marc (Chandra) of Halifax NS, and his daughter Leanna McLean (Dale) of Timmins. His grandchildren, Elena, Liah, and Andrew will miss his loving and voluminous advice on life, and all of his family and many friends will remember his roguish smile, his impromptu outbursts of song, and his quirky sense of humour.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 30th in the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home chapel (Fr. John Lemire officiating). A reception will follow in the Miron-Wilson Reception Lounge. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation – Hospice Centre would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday October 29th, and from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday October 30th at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
