Obituary for Lina Comand (Dionisi)

Lina  Comand (Dionisi)
Lina passed away peacefully, in her sleep, at the Timmins and District Hospital, at the age of 83 years, from complications after hip surgery. Lina was born in Timmins, in 1935 to the late Elisa (nee Celli) and Dionisio Dionisi. In 1964, she married her loving husband of 49 years, Giuseppe Comand (deceased 2013). Lina will be remembered by her adored children, Sandra Comand of Timmins, Dennis (Gina Lee) Comand of Pickering and her 4 cherished grandchildren, Kaylee and Jenna Mainville and Noah and Joshua Comand. Lina is survived by her sisters-in-law Elda Comand of Timmins, Silvana (Fedele) Comand of Italy, and Ilde Comand of Woodbridge. She is predeceased by her sisters, Lina (1935), and Ida (2018), and in-laws, Bruno, Elio, Giovanni, Vilma and Marcello Comand and Louis Degilio. She leaves behind many thoughtful and dear nieces and nephews (Mary Anne, Brenda, Eloise, Carla , Gioela, Paula, Dino, Lisa, Juliana, Luigi, Fiorella, and Giorgio,) as well as their spouses and families.
Lina was a loving and devoted wife, mother and Nonna who adored her family. She was always thoughtful, gentle, caring, and had a very generous nature. Lina loved to spend time with her family and friends. She had a very special bond with her wonderful sister, Ida, and life long friendships with Flori Colasacco, Mary Zega and Maria Silvestrone.
Lina graduated from TH&VS in 1954. She attended the Marvel School of Hair Dressing in Toronto, and worked at Arctic Home Furnishing as a bookkeeper until 1993. She was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and was a lifetime member of The Dante Club.
The family will receive condolences from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S. Timmins.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 296 Cedar St. S., on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment at Timmins Memorial Cemetery to follow. The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses of TDH.
