Remembering Les

I'm shocked to hear of Les' passing. I remember him as a dedicated and hard worker, both at the Hollinger G.C. and later at Canadian Tire. My most memorable story of Les took place at at the "Old" Hollinger golf club...hole 5 (Trailer Park hole). I was set to tee off when out of the corner of my eye I saw a worker driving towards our tee on his way to the equipment shack. I stopped to wave him (Les) through but he parked behind a skinny tree and waved me on to hit. Well, fearing that I might hit it O.B. into the trailer park, I set up left to try to hit a slight fade. I heeled it and before I could even yell "Fore" I had struck Les. He dropped like a ton of bricks! We raced over to check on him to find I had hit him in the throat area. He was struggling to breathe and we all started to panic. Luckily, Joe Farrari was there gathered him up and rushed him up to the hospital. Needless to say I was pretty shaken up. Not to my surprise, while later sitting in the clubhouse, who walks in but Les...bandage and all...back to work, like nothing happened. Everytime I saw him after that I couldn't get that image out of my head. But he always told me it was his fault...That's the Les I remember...always trying to make you feel better about a terrible situation. Rest in Peace my friend. My condolences to the Family and loved ones.
