Obituary for Jeanne D'Arc Charbonneau (Assaf)

Jeanne D'Arc Charbonneau (Assaf)
Charbonneau, Jeanne D'Arc (nee Assaf)
1923-2020
The family announces with great sorrow her passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the age of 97 years. Beloved wife of late Guy Charbonneau (2007). Loving mother of Diane Kasner (Glenn) of Kenogami, ON and Carole Paquet (Michel) of Timmins. Dear Grandmother of Amanda Kasner (Adam), David Kasner (Kaitlyn), Paul Paquet (Carolyn) and Jessica Paquet and great grandmother of Charlotte Paquet. Also left to mourn are her sisters Mary Carraro and Olga Selvazzo and her brother George Assaf. She was predeceased by her parents Niemi and Selemi Assaf and her brother Ernie Assaf.
Jeanne was born in Shawinigan Falls and grew up in Rouyn. After she married she spent time in Chibougamau, back to Noranda and then North York. She moved to Timmins in the late 1980’s. The last few years she was at the Lasalle Residence where she became part of a loving family and received the absolute best care. Over the years Jeanne spent a lot of time volunteering. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Girl Guides of Canada, North York Hospital Auxiliary and served meals at the Lord’s Kitchen. She did a lot of knitting and you knew you were special when you received her knitted socks or mitts. Affectionately known as Siti, Jeanne loved people and loved to cook. There was always room at her table for one more. Everyone who met her fell in love with her sweet, kind personality. She loved her family and extended family to the fullest. The family would like to thank Dr. Lynne Schwertfeger, Dr. Ali Mahmoudi, as well as all the staff at the Timmins District Hospital on the surgical unit and the hospice unit for their care and compassion during this difficult time. In light of the current pandemic, in efforts to protect the public and the family, they have decided to have a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
