Obituary for James Logan "Jim" Kerr

James Logan "Jim" Kerr
With broken hearts, the family of James Logan Kerr III, announce his passing at the Timmins & District Hospital on Wednesday, December 29th, 2022 at the age of 76 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Victoria and his children J. Logan Kerr IV (Penny), Jimmy (Sharon), Chuck (France) and Jaime.

Also left to mourn, is his brother Gerry (Jayne), several nieces and nephews, cousins, close friends and relatives.

James was predeceased by his father J. Logan Kerr (1990), his mother Daphne Noll (nee Gallagher) (2022) and his sister Lulu Jean Farnell (2002).

James was President of J. Logan Kerr Limited/Kerr Crane Service where he worked alongside his son Logan. He was a prominent businessman within the community and very well respected within the construction industry.

James enjoyed spending time with his friends and family hunting, seadooing, snowmobiling and riding his Harley Davidson on the open road. He was also known as the Captain of the “Queen Victoria” as he navigated the water on the mighty Mattagami River. Another thing dear to his heart was spending time at his camp, the famous Lucas Hilton.

In his younger days, James was a competitive stock car and snowmobile racer. James continued to have the need for speed on and off the race track the rest of his life.

James fought hard to the end. He never gave up on life, rather his body gave up on him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Antonio Kos, Dr. Ramin Heidari, Pierre Whissel and all the lovely doctors and nurses in the ICU department at the Timmins & District Hospital.

James was a firm believer in supporting local businesses and organizations, in his memory, donations to the Timmins Rock Jr. A Hockey Club (To donate please visit www.timminsrock.com) or Sports for Kids Timmins would be greatly appreciated.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm on Thursday, January 5th, 2023.

A burial service and celebration of life party will be held this summer. Further details will be disclosed at that time.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins. To express online condolences or to make donations, please visit www.mironwilson.com
