Obituary for Jacques Riopel

Jacques Riopel
Jacques Riopel died peacefully in his home on July 6, 2022, at the age of 76 years in the arms of the love of his life, his wife Jocelyne (née Larivière). Jacques was a loving father to Ed (Nancy), Stephane (Chantal) and Marc (Lorie). He is predeceased by his beautiful daughter Nathalie in 2003. He is also grandfather to ten grandchildren; Mario, Emilie, Sophie, Alex, Sienna (Steven Geoffroy), Daphnie, Théo, Craig, Skylar and Ayla. He leaves behind several brothers and sisters; Carmen (late Richard Larivière), Marcel, Yvon (Anne-Marie), Thérèse (Fernand Vachon), Hélène (late Olivier Vincent), Jean-Louis (Trish), François, Léonard (Tony), Henri (Bobbi), Etienne (Diane), Daniel, Hubert and Jean-Pierre. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Jacques was born and raised on the Riopel family's dairy farm on Kraft Creek Road where he has lived for most of his life. He was a farmer through and through. Even after selling their cows, he continued with his garden and his potato field every summer as well as raising chickens for fresh eggs. You would often find him outside in his rubber boots puttering around the yard, making or fixing something. He was a strong, gentle man who was not afraid of work. He was still going to work every day at Custom Concrete until just a few months ago. He will be remembered most for his infectious laugh, his love for his family, his detailed stories and his ability to MacGyver anything to make it work. His daily routine included reading the obituaries every day in the Daily Press. We hope that he can read his and smile.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rachel Maisonneuve and Jacques' nurse, Tina Fortier, for their kindness and their compassion and for the care they provided.

Donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive family and friends on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 7pm to 9pm at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
