The family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 at the age of 77 years. Gilles had recently moved to Sturgeon Falls, Ontario (2019) but was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario. Son of the late Omer Chartrand and of the late Marie-Laure Chartrand (Larivière). Loving husband of Louise Chartrand (Proulx). Dear father of Marc, Luc (Reena), Sophie (Eric) and Sylvie Noël (Bryan). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three granddaughters Audrianna, Malia and Noa. Brother of Jean-Claude, Raymond, Floran, Jean-Guy, Joanne Laforest, Ghislaine Monet, Claudette Laforest, Susan Goulet and Thérèse Chartrand.
Gilles took great pride in his work and was employed with Enbridge (Formerly Union Gas) for over 35 years where he worked locally and traveled to many Northern communities to perform his duties of welder. Over the years, Gilles made many friendships that he fostered and valued. Gilles was an active member of the Pentecostal Church and was profoundly faithful. He now rests peacefully with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11 am from the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow in the Miron-Wilson Lounge. Burial of his ashes will take place at a later date. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 28 from 9:45 am to 10:45 am at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins, ON

Époux bien-aimé de Louise Chartrand (née Proulx). Cher père de Marc, Luc, Sophie et Sylvie Noël (Bryan). Son souvenir restera gravé dans la mémoire de ses 3 petites-filles; Audrianna, Malia et Noa. Frère de Jean-Claude, Raymond, Floran, Jean-Guy, Joanne Laforest, Ghislaine Monet, Claudette Laforest, Susan Goulet et Thérèse Chartrand.
Gilles était très fier de son travail et a travaillé chez Enbridge (anciennement Union Gas) pendant plus de 35 ans, où il a travaillé dans la région et s’est rendu dans de nombreuses collectivités du Nord pour exercer ses fonctions de soudeur. Au fil des années, Gilles a noué de nombreuses amitiés qu’il a entretenues et appréciées. Gilles était un paroissien actif dans son église et vivait sa foi. Il est maintenant dans le Royaume de Dieu. En respectant ses vœux, l'incinération a eu lieu. Un service funèbre aura lieu le samedi 28 mai 2022 à 11h00 en la chapelle Miron-Wilson. Une réception suivra le service. L'inhumation des cendres aura lieu à une date ultérieur. La famille recevra parent et amis samedi le 28 mai de 9h45 à 10h45 au Salon Funéraire MIRON-WILSON, 150 sud, rue Balsam, Timmins, ON.
