Obituary for Gerald Roy

Gerald Roy
It is with great sadness, and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Gerald Roy on the morning of Oct 1 2020. He will forever be remembered by his loving family and all who knew him, as a man who showed genuine interest, kindness and compassion to all regardless of who you were, or how long he may have known you.
A lifelong resident of Timmins, Gerald’s love of people was evident throughout his various careers. He was proud to make a difference in his community when he served as an OPP Constable. As a business owner, he took great joy in making his customer’s happy. In addition, he had a long career in the mining world, and was particularly passionate about Health and Safety. For the last twenty years he dedicated himself to helping protect workers.
His passion for people was evident as a dedicated member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and he loved to share his hope for a better world.
He is survived by his loving wife Doreen (nee Sadites); his sons Robin and Scott; his Daughter-in-law Hannah; Brothers Claude and Donald Roy; Sister Jacqueline Dousett and numerous nieces and nephews.
In the spirit of Gerald’s love of people, the family wants to extend deep heartfelt thanks to all the nurses on the Surgical and Medical units of the Timmins and District Hospital for their loving care of Gerald, in his most difficult hours.
There will be an online funeral service to be held on Saturday Oct 17th at 4pm. If you would like to virtually attend please email Robin Roy at niboryor123@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation. You may pay your respects or make a donation online with the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home website: www.mironwilson.com. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 150 Balsam St. S. Timmins
