The family announces with great sadness the passing of Gaston at the Timmins and District Hospital on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the age of 73 years. Gaston was happily married to his best friend Huguette (nee Emond) for 48 beautiful years. Supportive and cherished father of Marc and Eric and his daughter-in-law Corinne who was near and dear to him. Proud and loving Pepere of Sara and Megan. Dear brother of late Cathrine, Anita Anderson (late Roy), Rene (Jamie), Paul (Marie), late Yvette Fauvelle (Armand), Lorraine Ammar (late John), Maurice (Faye) and Yvon (Carole). Brother-in-law of late Annette Paquin (late Raoul), Fernande Lefebvre (Real), (late Jean-Paul (late Therese), Lucienne Laurin (Claude), Lucette Leblanc (Armand), Jean-Louis, late Gérald (Claudette), late Royal and late Estelle. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Conrad Hamelin & Evelina (nee Auger) and his in-laws Eroy Emond & Corinne (nee Dagenais).
Gaston was a devoted family man and always put his family first. He enjoyed family gatherings especially bbq's. He was always in charge of the grill. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jay's fan. Gaston was a miner for 40 years, he worked at the Dome Mine Inc and at Kidd Creek Mine.
A memorial reception and celebration of Gaston's life will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the the Miron-Wilson Funeral Reception lounge. A short prayer service will be held at 5:45 pm officiated by Fr. Simon Drapeau followed by a eulogy. Remembrance donations to CHEO - Audiology Department would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE150 Balsam St. S. Timmins
