Gibson, Floyd Denzil

With Heavy Hearts the family announces the passing of Floyd Gibson at the Timmins & District Hospital on September 6, 2019 at the age of 63 years. Loving spouse of Susie Linklater and father of Vance Linklater, Catia Carrier and Steph (Michelle) Carrier. Cherished grandfather of Alexa Rice, Harley Godda, Cheyenne Carrier and Riel Carrier.
He will be missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law Marlene (Wayne) Kapashesit and children Tyson, Devin, Jasmine and Charnelle, Audrey (Yves) Caron and children Michael and Julien, and Doug Linklater and children Lauree, Duane, Kellen, Kyla and Jordan. Brother of Janette (Jim) Haavisto, Wayne (Wanda), Kevin (Ruth), Linda (Late Dan) Henry and Joan (Dan) Monahan. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Denzil and Catherine Gibson and his in-laws Bill and Ethel Linklater, and sister in-law Pauline Linklater.

Floyd’s passion for music resonated in his amazing guitar playing among other musical instruments and in his unique powerful beautiful singing voice. He was a keeper of hundreds of many genres of songs. With this Floyd entertained many audiences playing in numerous bands across Canada, Shania Twain, Michelle Wright, Joe Firth etc. The family would like to thank and express their gratitude to nurse Lisa and the Home Care Team, the many doctors and nurses who took care of him during his stays at the hospitals. Special thank you to nurse Gail Hayes in the ICU, all the medical team and Dr. Labelle, Dr. Parmar and Dr. Hibbert for the excellent care and Dr. John Murnaghan and team at Sunnybrook. A heartfelt thank you to the Traditional Healers, Jules and Charlene Tapas.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and the interment of his ashes will take place in Cobden, Ontario at a later date. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 150 Balsam St. S. Timmins
