Eric Baptiste
It is with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to Eric Baptiste at the Timmins and District Hospital on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband of 67 years to Reina Baptiste (nee Gauthier). Cherished father of Debbie (Andy) Duhn, Susan (Dan) Gravel and Nancy (Ed) Riopel. Dear grandfather of Marian (Dave) Irvine, Steven Duhn, Heather (Eddy Haasen) Duhn, Marc (Amanda) Gravel, Luc Gravel, Sophie Riopel, Louis Riopel and great grandfather of Alexa, Brooklyn, Kayden and Leo. Survived by his sister Dora (late Pat) Chiarelli, sisters in law Claudette (late Eddy) Baptiste and Delia (late Jean-Claude) Gauthier, brothers in law Ronald (Joann) Gauthier and Jean-Marc (late Denise, Thérèse Rousselle) Lagacé. He is predeceased by his sisters and brothers in law Annette (Jean-Marc) Guindon, Aline (Raymond) Beaulieu, and Denise Lagacé. Eric will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Eric was born and raised in Timmins and grew up on Preston Ave. He worked at Doran’s and Marshall-Ecclestone, then went into business at A & E Empire Plumbing and Heating. He rounded out his career as a gas fitter at Kidd Creek Mines Met Site. He loved spending time with his family at his cottage “Villa Santa Lucia” at Kenogamissi Lake, he developed many friendships and became known as The Italian Stallion, always sharing a drink, lots of laughs, and good food prepared by his loving wife Reina (The French Connection). There he could be found fishing, boating and puttering at endless odd jobs.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Drs. Houston, Harding, Lang, Hopkins and all the doctors on rotation on Medical B and Hospice for their thorough and compassionate attention to Eric’s care. The family also offers thanks to all the nursing staff on rotation on Medical B and Hospice, the food services, cleaning staff, and volunteers, with special thanks to Chrissy, Anu, Vera, Reiley, Carole, Claudette, and Draga. You provided Eric with exceptional care and attention and gave the family a sense of community through his 8 months in hospital, right to his final moments.

He will surely be missed by everyone who knew him, including residents at St-Mary’s Gardens where he resided for the past 5 years.

As per Eric's wishes, cremation has taken place and visitations and service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Timmins and District Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to the

MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME,
Cremation and Reception Centre,
