The family announces with great sorrow the death of Deacon Michel (Meeshen) Koostachin on January 16th, 2021 at the Notre-Dame-De-Richelieu Residence, Richelieu Qc. at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his brother Greg Koostachin (Mary), many special nieces and nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Jacob and Louise Koostachin, his 4 sisters and 1 brother.

Deacon Koostachin devoted 63 years to his religion. In his 43rd year, he was ordained Deacon. After joining the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate he served in many parishes in the Northern Ontario area.

He was a humorous and funny person with a generous heart and compassionate soul. He will be missed by family, friends and those to whom he befriended and ministered to over the years.

Deacon Koostachin is to be returned home to Attawapiskat First Nation for burial. Remembrance donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements are entrusted with the
