Condolences

Condolence From: Lisa Leone-Arsenault
Condolence: I was saddened and shocked to learn about Dave’s passing. He was always kind, always cheerful, always optimistic and the world is a little dimmer without him in it. My condolences to Dave’s family. He left far, far too soon.

Condolence: It has been many years since I worked with Dave on some of the early First Nation initiatives as a representative of the forest industry. He was thoughtful and full of confidence for change and improvements... I am saddened that yet another of the "good ones" is gone too soon.

Condolence From: Peter Davis
Condolence: Very saddened to hear of Dave's untimely passing. He always seemed to be giving of himself to the broader community in many ways - quietly helping in the background with Terry Fox Run, Winter Olympic Torch Relay, and many others - but his genuine hearty resounding laughter equalled no other. He was so humbled, yet proud & privileged to have been given an Eagle Feather in honour of his trust & strong Indigenous relationships he forged. He was a strong contributing voice in the MNRF NER Planning Unit, and had a massive capacity to listen, and then contribute. He is missed.

Condolence: Dave was a good friend and colleague to many of us who worked with the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry and Ministry of Northern Development & Mines. I knew him from my time working in Timmins where, among other things, we played together on a softball team. He was a gregarious, sports-loving guy who very much enjoyed his work with Indigenous communities in northern Ontario. He will be remembered and missed by many in the Ontario Public Service. Deepest condolences to his family.

Bill Thornton, Deputy Minister

Condolence: I was saddened to hear the news of Dave's passing. I worked on fire crews with, and was a softball team-mate of Dave for a number of years and decades on he stands out as one of the most intelligent, well-read people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Interesting and enlightening conversation on a wide variety of subjects was a given when Dave was present. His quick wit, unique infectious laugh and wicked glove hand at third base are seared into memory.
Condolences to his family, friends and co-workers.

Condolence: It’s been awhile, but it was such a pleasure to have worked with Dave. He brought creativity, levity, humility, integrity, and always a new way of looking at things. He would draw on the most obscure references and resources to make a presentation … and he would always get us laughing. Such a loss. My condolences to those that were lucky enough to be close with such a good person.
