Obituary for Clem Cowan

Clem Cowan
COWAN, CLEM
1953 – 2020

The family announces with great sadness his passing at Timmins & District Hospital on Friday, June 5, 2020 at the age of 66 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Linda Cowan (nee Robichaud). Cherished son of Lina (Bignucolo) Cowan and the late Eldon Russell Cowan (2013). Treasured son-in-law of Carol Robichaud (Dosithe 2017) and brother-in-law to Dan (Val), Judy (Rick) Osipenko, Marian (Jacques) Tremblay and Mike (Judy). Dear stepfather of Shawn Lafontaine, Luke Lafontaine, Matthew Lafontaine (Andreanne), and Rachel Lafontaine. Grandfather of Trinity, Charlie, Noah, Roxy and Tiger Lily. Cherished brother of Anna (Jim) Harris, Lisa (Norm) Boullard and Donna (Ryan) Gravel. Clem also leaves behind his nieces and nephews Joseph, Deanna (Travis), Jim, John (Irish), Christopher (Kelly), Amanda, Christina, Luke, Mia, Serena and his great nieces Faith and Harper. Clem loved his immediate and extended family very much and enjoyed hosting gatherings before he became ill.

Clem grew up in Chapleau where he still has life long friends. He retired from the CP Rail in Chapleau as Locomotive Engineer in 2002. He was an avid Moose Hunter and loved to Camp and sit around a fire burning the wood that he loved to cut and pile on the campsite. It was important to him to keep connections with many of his friends and cousins who were very dear to him.

His strong Catholic faith helped him through his struggles with his illness. He was very involved in his Church and with his Church family.

The family would like to thank all of those who kept in close contact and supported Clem while he was ill; from our Church friends, his hunting buddies and friends from Chapleau. There are not enough words to express our heartfelt gratitude.

Due to the current pandemic restrictions a private funeral will be held. Remembrance donations to the ALS Society or the Sacred Heart Parish would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
