The family announces with deep regret the passing of Cecile Richard (nee Patry) at Extendicare in Timmins, on Thursday, May 11th, 2023, at the age of 94 years old.
Cecile was born in Timmins, and pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Willard Richard. She was a dear mother to her only son, Clayton Richard (Caroline) of Timmins. She was a loving grandmother and best friend to her granddaughter, Jamie-Lee Dunsmore (Matthew) of Calgary. She was also a beloved grandmother to Cassandra Fortin (Chris) and Stephanie Hills (Terry), of Timmins. Cecile was adored by her many great grandchildren, Emma, Hunter, Zalik, Karter, Griffyn, Levi, Blake & Zac.
Cecile was pre-deceased by her parents, Joseph and Marguerite Patry, and her siblings, Bert Patry (Emma), Paul Patry (Lorraine), Aurele Patry, Aline Shubat (Emile), Carmen Foster (Wilbert), Yvette Grant (George), Dolores McLeod (Roy) & Claire Petroni (Bobby).
Cecile was a longtime resident of Timmins who enjoyed bowling at Mike’s Mid-Town Bowl, line dancing with her friends, gambling with her sister-in-law, baking, and gardening with her granddaughter Jamie-Lee.
The family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to the staff at both the Walford and Extendicare for the quality of care that was provided to Cecile, especially nurse Ginette and Dr. DiTullio. They would also like to thank Helen Richard and Karen Romualdi for their unwavering support and compassion.
To fulfill Cecile’s wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a celebration of life is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society.
