Carmen Lariviere
Lariviere, Carmen (nee Riopel)
1944-2022
The family announces with great sorrow her passing at the Golden Manor on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the age of 77 years. Beloved wife of the late Richard Lariviere (2020) and loving mother of Anne (Roch) Vien, Lisa Lariviere (Paul Boudreau) and Rose Lariviere (Mark Trudel). Cherished grandmother of Tika (Mathieu) Roy, Cassie Vien (Ryan Bozzer), Zandrea Poirier (Eric Dion), Jeric Poirier (Katherine Li), Thalya Lariviere-Prozee, Naomi Bonhomme (Alan Haley), Nakita Beaudoin (Andre Murray) and Shanyka Beaudoin, and great grandmother of Maeva Roy, Taez Roy, Ivy River Dion, Evelyn Rose Partington and Paisley Rose Beaudoin. Dear sister of late Jacques Riopel (Jocelyne), Marcel Riopel, Yvon Riopel (Anne-Marie), Therese (Fernand) Vachon, Helene Vincent (late Olivier), Jean-Louis Riopel (Trish), Francois Riopel, Leonard Riopel, Henri Riopel (Bobbi), Etienne Riopel (Diane), Daniel Riopel, Hubert Riopel and Jean-Pierre Riopel. Also left to mourn are her many nieces, nephews and the Lariviere family. Carmen, the eldest of 14 children, was born and raised on the Riopel family's dairy farm on Kraft Creek Road. She was a strong and energetic woman with a gentle and selfless nature who devoted herself to her family, to her church, and to her community. Carmen was a proud French Catholic who was very involved and spent much of her life volunteering her time to organizations such as the Liberal Party of Canada, the “Echo du Nord” choir, the 4H Club, and the Girl Guides of Canada. She also loved to learn and valued education. She returned to University as an adult to obtain her B.A. in Accounting and her B.A. in Theology. She worked for many years as the accountant and manager for the 101 Mall, and later retired from her position at St-Joseph’s parish. Above all, Carmen was a loving mother and grandmother who always showed kindness and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Manor on the Special Care Unit. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the St-Joseph Church (Fr. Simon Drapeau officiating). A reception will follow in the St-Joseph Church Hall. Remembrance donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
