Obituary for Ada Ciccone (DeLuca)

Ada Ciccone (DeLuca)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother
Ada Nina Ciccone (née DeLuca), at the age of 92. She died on April 23, 2022 at Timmins Extendicare.

Born September 16, 1929 in Villa Santa Lucia degli Abruzzi, Italia to Giovanna (née DiRocco) and Giovanni DeLuca.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Edolo Ciccone, when she was only age of 31 years old. She never forgot her love of Edolo, and would often speak of him with obvious love and devotion.

She was also predeceased her brothers Ledo (Claire) and Lucio (Louise).
She is survived by her sons Lino (Chantal) and Mario (Darlene), her grandchildren Alex (Brittany), Eric, Saxon (Tyler), Sydney (Graeme) & Jeremy (Andrea), great- grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ada (Adina) was raised during the Great Depression and faced many hardships during her life. She moved to Timmins from Italia with her mother to join her father and brother in 1950. She helped make a new life for herself as well as for her parents and brothers. She married Edolo in 1955, just to lose him in 1960 and face the amazing challenge of living without him and raising her two sons. After being widowed at such a young age, she devoted the rest of her life to her sons. She worked hard and made many sacrifices, all to give them a better life than she had. And that she did. She shared that love with her nephews & nieces as well as her grandsons. She loved Alex and Eric with all of her heart. She was a very talented seamstress, gardener and an amazing cook. She hosted meals for family and many friends for decades.

We would like to thank the very caring staff at Timmins Extendicare. We had comfort knowing that they were looking after her with such compassion. And of course, Drs. DiTullio & Maisonneuve for their great care over the years.

The funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11am. Burial will take place at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery. The family requests that all relatives and guests attending both the visitation and funeral will adhere to masking due to the Covid pandemic. If you wish, donations to the Timmins and District hospital Foundation or the Breast Cancer Society of Canada are much appreciated by the family. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 7-9pm at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
